MANHATTAN & BROOKLYN
New York Foundation for Senior Citizens – Their Respite Care Program provides temporary relief to caregivers of frail individuals over age 60 who reside throughout New York City and are not Medicaid eligible.
Trained and certified Home Attendant care is provided on a short-term basis as follows:
- Basic Service: at the low rate of $12.00 per hour on weekdays and weeknights, $12.25 per hour on weekends and $13.50 per hour on holidays, plus $5.50 per day carfare.
- Emergency/Extended Hours of Respite Care Service: free-of-charge for frail elderly, whose primary caregivers are temporarily unavailable after 5PM, weekends, holidays and in emergencies. Preference is given to care recipients with annual incomes of $40,000 or less.

Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation (LIAF)
The Helen and Sydney Jacoff Respite Program – LIAF’s Memory Fitness Center provides two hours of In-home Respite every other week for Alzheimer’s families in Nassau County for FREE and $35 for extra weeks. The respite workers are trained in providing stimulating cognitive activities for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease. The program provides caregivers with a much needed break from their caregiving role, allowing them some time to rest, socialize with friends, run errands, attend medical appointments and more.
