Project Angel Food’s mission is to feed and nourish the sick as they battle critical illness. Volunteers and staff cook and deliver nutritious meals, free of charge, to homes throughout Los Angeles County. Their vital food and nutrition services, including medically tailored meals and nutritional counseling, help underserved people throughout LA County who are too sick to shop or cook for themselves.

Our mission at St. Vincent Meals on Wheels is to prepare and deliver nutritious meals to homebound seniors and other vulnerable residents across Los Angeles, regardless of age, illness, disability, race, religion or ability to pay.
All of their clients are homebound—confined to their homes because they are unable to shop or cook for themselves. All of their meals meet the special dietary needs of their clients. Their freshly prepared food selections are nutritious, delicious and diverse. All clients receive special holiday remembrances throughout the year

Ambiance Medical Transportation provides immediate response and scheduled transportation services, pre-hospital and medical escort, wheelchair conveyance, inter-hospital/medical and residential facility transportation services, dialysis treatment transport. They process private pay, HMO insurance, and the LogistiCare Network.

Home Instead has teamed up with Lyft to offer an option for transportation for seniors. The partnership leverages Home Instead Senior Care’s expertise in senior in-home care with Lyft expertise in on-demand transportation services. The service doesn’t require seniors to own a smartphone or download the Lyft app. Instead they or their family can place a call to Home Instead Los Angeles office with their pick-up address and destination then a driver & caregiver will be sent out. Everything can be done over a phone call. Home Instead’s trained caregivers can even attend medical appointments and take notes, help with grocery shopping and much more.

All meal offerings are healthy and tasty with controlled sodium, fat, carbohydrates and calories. The menus are prepared by a registered dietitian to ensure balanced meals throughout the week. Meals on Wheels San Diego County offers the choice of one or two nutritious meals for seven days a week, including holidays. Deliveries are made by caring volunteers between 10:45 am and 1:30 pm. Sunday meals are delivered on Saturday.

Neighborhood House Association’s Senior Service Center provides daily breakfast and lunch meals to adults 60 years of age and older. The meals are prepared and served on-site. The Senior Service Center also provides socialization, recreation, education, health and nutrition services to assist in the independence and safety of persons 60 years of age and older. Transportation is provided to and from the Senior Service Center in any area with Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) services.The suggested donation for meals at the Senior Service Center is $2.00 for breakfast and $3.00 for lunch.
No senior will be denied meals because of inability to pay.
Eligibility Requirements: Ages 60 years and older; Must live in zip code areas 92102, 92113, or 92114 to be able to receive transportation services to and from senior center. Must live in zip code areas 92102, 92113, 92114 or 92139 to be able to receive home-delivered meals. No residency requirements for other senior center services.

This organization offers a variety of free classes and workshops for those with memory loss concerns, families, caregivers and the community. Their classes are held throughout San Diego County and are taught by our expert team.
These classes include workshops in caregiving (communication skills, learning practical caregiving skills and techniques, learning how to cope with personality and behavior changes), planning (learning about legal and financial basics from local estate planning and elder law experts), and informational classes about dementia.
