Reiki is a simple method of hands-on healing developed by Mikao Usui, a monk from Kyoto, Japan. He understood our body is composed not only of physical elements such as muscles, bones, nerves, arteries, organs, glands, etc.; it also has a subtle energy system through which ‘life force energy’ flows. This subtle energy system is composed of energy ‘bodies’ which surrounds our physical body and assist us in processing our thoughts and emotions. Reiki healing is a technique for harnessing then transmitting this subtle energy through the practitioner’s hands and into the cells of the person being treated.

Reiki is a combination of two Japanese words rei and ki meaning universal life energy. Reiki is an ancient laying-on of hands healing technique that uses the life force energy to heal, balancing the subtle energies within our bodies. Reiki can addresses physical, emotional, mental and spiritual imbalances. A Reiki practitioner serves as a vessel that supplies healing energies where they are most needed.
