WE NOW HAVE NATIONAL SUPPORT GROUPS FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE LBD (“LBD CREW”)

FOR CAREGIVERS
NEW YORK METROPOLITAN AREA – Caring support group for all LBD caregivers – led by Norma Loeb

NATIONWIDE: “AT THIS MOMENT“ (“ATM”) – This new group differs from the longstanding support group as it will focus SOLELY ON THE CAREGIVERS’ FEELINGS AND NEEDS at any given moment. It will meet the first and third WEDNESDAYS
Every first and third Wednesday of the month from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm Eastern time.
FOR PEOPLE WITH LBD

EARLY ONSET – This new group has been created for people who are younger than 60, those who are newly diagnosed, and persons who are experiencing LBD symptoms and have not yet been diagnosed and may be struggling for answers. It will meet on the second and fourth WEDNESDAYS of each month from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm Eastern – led by Megan Ferguson-Koci
NYU LANGONE FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAM
The NYU Family Caregiver Support Program offers FREE COUNSELING to individuals who are caring for someone with any type of dementia and have a family member living in New York City. They offer experienced, caring social workers who are specifically trained for this purpose. Please call: 646-754-2277
BEREAVEMENT GROUPS:
For those who receive hospice care, a one year bereavement group is available for loved ones to attend. For all other bereavement support groups, please see below. Please note that these are general groups and are not specifically focused on LBD at this time.
CARINGKIND of NYC – offers free groups that are 10 weeks long and held twice a year each for adult children or spouses/partners. Most people join the groups several months after the person they were caring for has died, but this varies widely. Call their CaringKind Helpline at 646-744-2900 and you can be added to the list for the next series of bereavement groups, or be referred to other general bereavement resources in the community.
