Sociaal model – Biedt dagelijks toezicht en kan oriëntatie op de realiteit, socialisatie, ontspanningsactiviteiten en steunprogramma's omvatten. Traditioneel zijn hierbij een maaltijd en vervoer inbegrepen.
Medisch model – Biedt dezelfde zaken als het sociaal model, maar levert daarnaast ook gezondheidszorg en maatschappelijke dienstverlening. Deze diensten kunnen verpleging, medicatietoediening, ergotherapie, fysiotherapie, maatschappelijk werk enzovoort omvatten. Verzekeringen vergoeden deze kosten mogelijk.
